Weaving and Spinning Lessons
Learn to weave
We provide 3 different levels courses for weaving.
A Taste of Weaving A one-day workshop, four to five hours. This course allows the participant to have the experience of weaving on a table loom already threaded and ready to weave. You get to make a 12” X 26” runner.
Cost: $80.00. All equipment and materials included.
This course will next be offered on Saturday January 17th, 2026, and on Saturday January 24th, 2026.
Level 1 Table Loom Course This is a 5-lesson course taught in 3-hour sessions over
5 days/weeks. This course teaches you the ground rules of weaving. You learn to make a warp, dress a table loom, and basic weaving techniques. You will be able to complete a small project and take home your work as a sampler of what you have learned for future reference.
Cost: $ 180.00 for members, $225.00 for non members. Equipment, instruction manual and raw materials included.
This course will next be offered as a full week course July 14th to 18th, 10AM to 1PM, and Saturdays 10AM to 1PM starting September 27th to October 25th, 2025.
Level 2 Floor Loom Course This is a 6-lesson course taught in 3-hour sessions over 9 to 10 days/weeks. This course is ideal for someone with some weaving experience.
You learn about different fibres, patterns, how to dress a floor loom, how to operate it, and how to maintain it. Along with many more techniques you also learn to finish your work with hems, fringes, and wet finishing.
In this course you make two take home projects, one woven in cotton and the other woven in wool.
Cost: $ 250.00 for members, $300.00 for non members. Equipment, instruction manual and raw materials included. These lessons will next be offered as a two full week course starting August 11th ending August 22nd 2025, 10AM to 1PM.

Learn to spin
Would you like to learn more about spinning? Lessons can be taught using your own spinning wheel, or its possible to rent a spinning wheel from the NHWS guild.
The Spinning Course is taught by one of our experienced spinners at her home in St. Catharines.
The course consists of 6 lessons of 2 hours each.
An instruction binder and the raw materials are provided. If you require to rent a spinning wheel that can also be arranged. She is flexible with the days and times of the lessons.
Costs: $ 175.00 for members, $220.00 for non members. $30.00 for materials.
